Information for Licensees

All Licensees are responsible for understanding the content of their application and the terms and conditions of their water licence. Licensed activities are to be carried out as described in the application and in the licence. Reasons for Decision are issued with every water licence and provide further background information and rationale for the Board’s licensing decisions. All these documents are viewable on Waterline. If a Licensee requires help in understanding and interpreting water licence terms and conditions, clarification may be obtained from Inspections Officers (please see the table below).

If any aspect of the project changes, please contact an Inspections Officer to determine if there is a need to apply for an amendment to the licence.

Reports

All water licences have reporting requirements which are specific to the licence. As a result, there is no common reporting form or template. It is the Licensee’s responsibility to be familiar with and follow the specific reporting conditions found in their licence. Reports must be complete and thorough in order to satisfy reporting requirements. Non-compliance with the conditions of a water licence, including failure to submit reports, could result in charges under the Waters Act. Additionally, failure to submit reports could result in the Water Board denying future applications or requiring a Licensee to furnish and maintain security.

Fees

Annual water use fees may apply. Licensees will receive annual invoices for water use fees and options for payment. It is the Licensee’s responsibility to ensure payments are made on time. If you have any questions, please contact the Yukon Water Board Secretariat.
